Important message from Dr. Ackley concerning student safety

October 29, 2018

Dear Royal Family,

Our relationship with our families and community is very important, and want to assure you that safety is our first priority at Royal ISD.  We make every effort to keep students safe at all times.  Any threats are taken seriously, and the school district is committed to working with local and State law enforcement agencies as a continued safeguard for our children.

As we work together to establish open communication, we want to inform you about a threating note that was found in a bathroom at Royal High School.  After the note was found, RISD police immediately began investigating the threat and contacted the Waller County Sheriff’s Office and the Texas Department of Public Safety.  All parties will continue to work together throughout this investigation until the source has been identified.

At Royal ISD, threats of any nature are taken seriously and met with swift action.  The safety of all RISD students remains our top priority.  We will work collaboratively with area law enforcement to identify anyone who poses a threat to our campuses.  Any suspects will be disciplined in accordance to district policy and/or the law.

We understand that a threat notification makes us all worry and hope to work together to keep our students safe. We ask that you remain vigilant.  If you hear or see something you feel is a threat, please notify RISD Police Department immediately.

When a potential threat to school safety occurs, the district will conduct a call out to parents/guardians. Additionally, a written version of the call out will be posted on the district website.

Thank you for your support as we work to keep the students of RISD safe.
