Each summer, the Royal District Leadership Team meets for a two-day leadership retreat. This year's theme was "Don't Stop Believing: Leading Across the Generations". The retreat was packed with teambuilding activities designed to create a cohesive Falcon leadership team. The RISD leadership team was treated to a panel discussion by four retired principals who have over 150 years of combined experience: Jeff Springer, Magnolia HS; Nathaniel Richardson, RHS; O.D. Tompkins, Mayde Creek HS; and Julie Diaz, Travis HS.
The District Leadership Team was also blessed with thought-provoking, valuable lessons on how to be inspirational and effective leaders from Dr. Lowell Strike. A few key takeaways of many: love people, be relentlessly kind, be the leader you'd want to work for, and LISTEN.
Royal leadership team members took part in mock "speed dating" and learned some fun facts about each other. Baby boomers, Gen X, millennials, and Gen Z. The Royal District Leadership Team teamed up with their generations to create a graffiti wall about the events and trends that built them. On day 1, attendees were invited to dress in the style of their high school graduation year.
The retreat culminated in presentations by each campus team about their vision for the 2023-2024 school year. To view more pictures, take a stroll through the district and campus Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram!
