RHS Falcon Family,
I am grateful for the outstanding turnout from the community at our Meet the Falcons event. The pep rally highlighting both Fall and Spring sports, our wonderful Fine Arts Department along with our clubs and organizations were some of the highlights from Friday night. I would like to give a special thanks to all of the community business partners that participated as well. Please click here to view all event pictures!
With that being said, I am addressing an adjustment that was made to Meet the Falcons. I understand the expectations of the community was to receive student schedules at our community event. I want you to know that part of my responsibility as principal of Royal High School is to ensure student voice and choice are valued. As such, I believe in delivering a product that has value. I wanted to ensure that students had a say in their schedules for this upcoming school year. This was important to me.
Our fabulous new team of counselors met with families individually during our Meet the Falcons event to hear concerns, be available, and schedule classes according to student needs. As a result, this will increase the quality of the product while minimizing schedule adjustments once school starts. Additionally, during the first two weeks our counselors will be on the stage with laptops, available to speak to all students during every lunch period.
Last night, our parents met with administrators and district personnel, some for the first time. Our students had an opportunity to reunite with other classmates and teachers while signing up for different clubs and organizations we provide at Royal High School. Overall, the opportunity to serve our community is the spark that will ignite the fire for us to continue to SOAR.
