Good afternoon, Falcon family.
Today, the Royal ISD Police were alerted to a report of a weapon. The incident was reported to staff, and after a thorough investigation, no weapon was found.
Royal ISD Police have been receiving numerous calls regarding online and social media posts suggesting that several Texas public schools are potential targets of violence. School districts across the state remain on high alert, with some having to cancel classes and activities due to these threats. Some of these resulted in arrests in connection with this troubling social media trend, which districts are treating with the utmost seriousness. As always, if you see something, say something. Contact 911, the Royal ISD Police Department, or your local law enforcement agency for assistance.
While we have not confirmed any direct threats to RISD schools, the Royal ISD Police Department is actively monitoring the situation and investigating these claims. The safety of our students, staff, and community remains our highest priority.
All online threats will be treated as terroristic threats and could lead to severe legal and school-related consequences. These threats cause real harm by diverting critical law enforcement resources and creating significant emotional distress for students, school personnel, and parents. A single thoughtless remark on social media can forever change a young person’s future, resulting in a felony conviction and prison time.
