The Royal MJROTC was one of 12 schools that participated in the Air Force ROTC Central High School Drill & Drone Competition in San Angelo, TX, and we could not be prouder of their achievements!
Drone Team:
This was the first year Royal ISD has had a dedicated drone team, and they exceeded all expectations at their very first competition! Special recognition goes to Cadet Nathan Covington, who earned:
1st place in Drone Quadcopter Non-FPV
2nd place in Drone Quadcopter Streamer
A huge thank you to the Royal Education Foundation for providing the funds to purchase two small drones. The investment has paid off, and we are excited to continue building on this success! We are already planning to apply for another grant to acquire high-speed drones similar to those used by the Air Force cadets who outpaced us in two other categories. Their superior speed, FPV technology (goggles), battery life, and drone precision gave them the edge, but we will be back next year with even better and more advanced equipment!
Other Achievements:
Varsity Male Color Guard (led by Stewart Spindelman) placed 1st
Female Color Guard (first-time competitors, led by Fernanda Rodriguez) placed 6th
Male PT (Physical Fitness) Team (led by Jayden Brown) placed 3rd
We are incredibly proud of all of our students and their hard work. We cannot wait to see what they accomplish next!
