On May 18, Texas Governor Greg Abbott issued an executive order prohibiting governmental entities in Texas — including counties, cities, school districts, public health authorities, or government officials — from requiring or mandating mask wearing. Public schools may continue to follow current mask-wearing guidelines through Friday, June 4. After June 4, no student, teacher, parent, or other staff member or visitor can be required to wear a mask while on campus.
In accordance with the new executive order, masks will no longer be required in any Royal ISD facility effective Monday, June 7. Royal students and staff who elect to wear a mask in our buildings after June 4 will be able to do so. Royal ISD urges individuals to make the decision that works best for their personal situation.
