In March, the high school UIL Academics Team competed in the 24-4A UIL Academics District Competition. The students earned an array of medals. The biggest was bringing home the District Championship for the first time in over 30 years. Today, they are on the road to the 2022 Regional competition in Nacogdoches, TX.
The team and their coaches were honored at the April 11 Royal School Board meeting. The team presented a tribute to their Academic UIL coach, Dawn Richardson. Seniors Alexis Ibarra and Melani Alanis presented school board trustee Nathaniel Richardson with a gift for Mrs. Richardson as a token of their appreciation from the entire team. Superintendent Rick Kershner, Board Member Nathaniel Richardson, and Board Member Elton Foster also expressed thanks for her contributions. Mrs. Richardson is the heart of Royal High School, and is heavily involved with our students. Royal ISD cannot thank her enough for her commitment to and love for our Falcon students.
