Good Evening Royal Family,
Royal ISD has been notified that a staff member who works for our Nutrition Services Company (Chartwells) has tested positive for COVID-19. This staff member worked in the meal distribution line at Royal High School. This staff member became ill with "flu-like" symptoms on March 25, 2020 and went to the doctor for observations. This staff member did not return to campus and continued to feel ill yesterday (March 31). The employee was then tested for COVID-19. The employee received information indicating a positive test for COVID-19. The staff member and any employee that had contact with this individual has been instructed to self-quarantine for the next 14 days. Affected areas are currently being deeply sanitized. The District will release additional information regarding future meal distribution as soon as possible. District employees and students are instructed to continue to follow CDC guidelines and recommendations and to practice social distancing. At this point, Royal High School will be completely shut down until sanitizing and sterilization is complete. As a precautionary measure, we advise you to monitor your health, and to follow the CDC guidelines for people who have close contact. Please contact your primary care physician if you develop symptoms. Royal ISD is continuing to monitor this situation and will release additional information as we receive it. RISD will continue to follow protocol established by the CDC and all government agencies

RHS Students, we have started online distance learning. Everyone is expected to log on and participate in online classroom activities. Each student at RHS should have a chromebook to participate in online activities. School hours are from 8am to 4pm. Teachers are availiable to assist you everyday. Students, let's work together to ensure success!!! Together we will, "Soar to Success and Expect Nothing Less"!!!
