Falcon Perspectives: RJH Theater Teacher Ms. Beall

Dedicated RJH Theater teacher Ms. Beall recently shared her thoughts on teaching and her students. Thank you to Ms. Beall for all you do to help our Falcon learners soar!  Coming soon: One Act Play competition results!

My job is stressful. Every job is stressful. But there is the stressful to where it breaks you and then the stressful that builds you.

These kids make each type I face worth it. It is hard to do theatre. It is hard to take adolescent anxiety and self esteem, roll it up with a story, drama, and a crazy theatre teacher and put on a show.

And they did it. They knocked it out of the park. In a month. A month guys. We rehearsed a different play first but circumstances happen that we can’t control, so we had to pick a new play to learn and compete with…and only had a month. With 4 veterans and a whole lot of newbies.

I can’t tell you how much I don’t care what our ranking is at competition, because in my book…this group has already won.

Thank you to the parents, the supporting teachers, the friends, and the families who put up with crazy hours, practicing Peter Pan lines, and all kinds of other chaos that comes with theatre.

And my favorite part is my students who return to help continue to build the program and the love for theatre. I have 4 former students working as acting coaches, 3 former students who come to help support and run errands, and 1 former student who is my co director. From starting the program as an 8th grader to running the program with me as a director…my heart is just full.
