Good morning, Falcons! ​As we head into the final week of Early Voting, we wanted to provide you with an answer to the following question: "​Why does the language on the ballot state that there will be a tax increase when RISD leadership has stated that there will not be one?" The statement in the ballot language​ is misleading. In 2019, the Texas Legislature passed legislation requiring the ballots for all school bond elections to include a sentence that states “THIS IS A PROPERTY TAX INCREASE.” The sentence is required even if no actual tax rate increase will occur. Visit https://5il.co/ldu9 to view the ballot language in Spanish and English. Royal Bond 2020 will NOT result in an increase to the tax rate, regardless of the outcome of the bond election. Together, the proposals total of $37,302,581​.
