Name, Title: Jennifer Mechler, 7th and 8th grade Social Studies Teacher, STEM Chapter of National Junior Honor Society Staff Advisor
How long have you been at Royal? This will be my third year at Royal.
What's your "why"? My goal is that my students know that I believe in them and care about them. In addition to teaching my content area, I want my students to know that they can accomplish great things. I believe that all of our students are capable of great things, and I work to encourage my students to achieve their goals.
How do you contribute to the district mission statement of "investing in our tomorrow"? I invest in our tomorrow by building positive and supportive relationships with my students, this allows me to not only have positive interactions regarding content, but positive interactions in other areas. If students don't think you care, then not only will you struggle to teach content, but you will struggle earning the trust of your students. It is hard to teach someone that doesn't trust you or believe that you are invested in them.
Favorite quote: "No one cares how much you know, until they know how much you care." - President Theodore Roosevelt
What are 1-2 goals you would like to achieve during the 2023-2024 school year? I plan to increase activities for our NJHS chapter, and to be more organized in my data collection.
What do you enjoy doing when you are not working? I enjoy spending time outside with my kids.
Anything else you'd like to share about yourself? I have a 7-year-old son, and a 4-year-old daughter, and being their mom is my biggest joy!
