Royal ISD is thankful to community member Daphne Kirby and RES teacher Ms. Wright for providing an innovative experience in robotics education at Royal Elementary School. The RISD school board and community members were treated to a demonstration at the November 13 regular school board meeting. School board members were also invited to participate by building a duck from Legos.

The robotics program not only teaches students the basics of robotics. It also teaches them qualities from the Learner Profile in the Royal Strategic Direction:

- Accountable
- Grit
- Adaptable
- Culturally Aware
- Global Citizen
The skills and lessons learned in the sessions benefit students both now and in the future. This program is just one of the many opportunities that Royal ISD provides to its students to meet its mission statement of "investing in our tomorrow".
The American Robotics Academy website states that it assists educational organizations and parents by providing a safe learning environment with workshops that include lessons in diversity, numeracy, literacy, self-esteem, and social collaboration.
