The Royal FFA Parade Committee have selected Ronnie and Donna Melton of Pattison to serve as Grand Marshals for this year's parade event. This year's FFA Parade will be held on Saturday, March 23rd beginning at 10:00AM in downtown Brookshire. We hope to see you there as we kick off the 68th annual event with this year's parade theme, "Royal FFA Celebrates the Wild Wild West".
Donna has been actively involved with the Sales Committee for the FFA auction since 1990. She, along with former long-time Royal ISD Business office employees: Gloria Yanchak, Carolyn Kitzman, Jackie Gruener, and Cheryl (Guillotte) Fawvor worked collaboratively as the Sales Committee collecting results from the various show placings, developing the sales order, as well as collecting and processing payments on the day of the auction and beyond to ensure each student received accurate payment for their FFA project. Donna retired from the Katy ISD system in 2018 after serving 12 years in their Technology Department. Prior to her tenure in Katy ISD, Donna was employed by Royal ISD as Business Manager for 14 years.
Ronnie's tenure at Royal began in 1989 as Vocational Ag Teacher. Throughout his career as FFA Advisor, Ronnie's Leadership and Judging Teams gained recognition at the State and National levels. Royal FFA represented Texas at the National FFA Convention in Louisville, Kentucky in 2000 in the arena of Livestock Judging, a moment often mentioned as, "the highlight of his teaching career."
In 2006, Melton was named Career and Technical Education Director for Royal and served in that capacity for 17 years. Programs such as: Industrial Welding; Precision Machining; Nursing and Health Occupations; Cosmetology & Human Services; Automotive Technology; STEM Engineering and Audio-Visual Technology were initiated at Royal High School under Melton's leadership. SkillsUSA, the student leadership organization for such CTE programs, offers students in the areas of Trade education the opportunity to showcase their competencies, earn Industry-Based Licensing and Certifications, and ultimately enter the Workforce directly from high school in a high-wage, high-skill position. #RoyalFFA #WeAreRoyal
