It is with great pleasure that I announce the Royal High School Houston Area Alliance of Black School Educators (HAABSE) Teacher of the Year! Mrs. Inniss has worked at Royal High School for 10 plus years exemplifying a steadfast commitment to our students, staff and community. Throughout her tenure, Mrs. Inniss has been a pillar of leadership and service, contributing to the district as a member of the District Advisory Board, Campus Improvement Committee, and Leadership Team. Additionally, she serves as Department Chair for our Early College, Teacher-Coach, UIL Coordinator, and fulfills her most cherished role as an English Teacher. Her ability to balance these responsibilities is a testament to her exceptional work ethic and unwavering dedication.
Mrs. Inniss serves as a dedicated teacher within Royal High School Early College, while simultaneously managing her numerous leadership responsibilities. When asked what inspires her daily, she always says her students are her driving force. Mrs. Inniss brings English to life which goes beyond her great End-of-Course (EOC) scores, students leave her class ready for their post-secondary paths. She has the honor of being the coach to many UIL State Champions. Mrs. Inniss also takes great pride in seeing former students succeed. Many have returned to thank her for not only the investment she made in their academic career but their personal lives as will. Due to the real life lessons coupled with the academic investment of her students, she has left an indelible mark on each student that she encounters.
When considering the individual I would nominate for HAABSE Teacher of the Year, I reflected on someone who consistently dedicates themselves to fostering the success of every student. Without question, Mrs. Inniss stands out as the ideal candidate for the 2024-2025 school year. Her pivotal role as a Capturing Kids' Hearts Process Champion is a testament to her commitment, as she leads initiatives that prioritize both character and moral development. The profound impact of her work extends far beyond the classroom, leaving a lasting impression on the campus and the wider community.
Congratulations, Mrs. Inniss!
