The Royal SkillsUSA Chapter competed throughout February in the District 9 SkillsUSA Competition at multiple locations across the Houston area, bringing home numerous awards, medals, and trophies! A remarkable 44 students have qualified for the State Competition in Corpus Christi, taking place April 2-5, 2025.

Royal’s A/V students excelled in various contests, including Advertising Design, Quiz Bowl, Audio Visual Quiz Bowl, Photography, and Customer Service.

Photography (General) – Kimberly Pedraza advanced to state.

Barbering: Emily Mendoza (1st), Rodrigo Gonzalez (2nd).
Cosmetology: Esteban Carranza (1st), Annabella Parada (2nd).
Esthetics: Arely Gonzalez (1st), Shaelyn Gamez (2nd), Vilma Martinez (3rd).
Nail Care: America Palacios (1st), Liset Interiano (2nd).

All four Royal Machining students received Superior Ratings and will compete at state:

Our newest program is already making waves! Alex Castillo and Donis Addison have both advanced to state.
