Two Royal ISD student artists recently earned top recognition at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo (HLSR) School Art Auction, with their work selling for impressive amounts.
Kimberly Pedraza’s “Rodeo Fans” Sells for $45,000
Kimberly Pedraza’s drawing, Rodeo Fans, sold for $45,000, marking her second time in the auction and earning her the title of Reserve Class Champion.
Reflecting on the experience, she shared:
“The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo School Art Program has given me the opportunity to accomplish more than I ever thought possible. I never imagined I would make it into the auction twice, let alone stand on that same auction stage as Reserve Class Champion. I am truly honored to have received such a prestigious award, and I could not have achieved this without the unwavering support of Mr. Crawley. I’m also incredibly grateful to everyone who has seen my drawing, which took countless late nights to complete, and recognized the passion and dedication I poured into it. I’m thankful that my final year participating in the HLSR Art Program competition is ending on such a high note, and I will cherish this experience long after high school.”
Eric Hernandez’s “Honor Before the Ride” Sells for $20,000
Eric Hernandez’s artwork, Honor Before the Ride, was also featured in the auction, selling for $20,000.
“I’m so grateful for the incredible experience of having my drawing auctioned at the Houston Rodeo Art Show,” he said. “Seeing my artwork valued so highly was truly motivating—it reminded me that this isn’t just a drawing or a skill I was blessed with, but a piece of artwork and dedication. I’m especially thankful for those who believe in me and for my art teacher, whose guidance and support helped me throughout this journey.”
Recognizing Hard Work and Talent
The HLSR School Art Program highlights student talent across Texas, and Kimberly and Eric’s success reflects their dedication and artistic ability. Their achievements serve as a proud moment for Royal ISD and the district’s art program.
