Royal High School students showcased their academic excellence at the UIL District 21-4A competition, earning the Sweepstakes Runner-Up title in their first year in a new, highly competitive district.
The competition, held March 24-28 across multiple locations, saw 32 Royal competitors achieve outstanding results, with 17 students qualifying for Regionals in 29 events. The Computer Science team secured 1st place, and the Journalism team brought home 2nd place overall. Notably, Valerya Vargas claimed 1st place in Editorial Writing, Gabriel Velasquez earned 3rd place in L-D Debate, and Eleanor Recinos qualified for Regionals in an impressive four events.
