Class of 2019 Royal ISD graduates Bailey Hubbard and Jenny Pierce will be awarded the coveted American Farmer FFA Degree at this week’s National FFA Convention. The American Farmer degree, which is the highest degree a member can attain, is earned by less than one-half of a percent of FFA members across the nation. American FFA Degree recipients show promise for the future and have gone above and beyond to achieve excellence.
In order to receive this honor, members must continue their FFA career for at least one year after high school graduation. They must also keep accurate records and invest a minimum of $7,500 into their continuous Supervised Agricultural Experience Program. Finally, they must conduct a variety of service activities for their college institution and local community. Bailey and Jenny join a short list of other Royal FFA members to receive this degree, which includes Robert Swize (1983), Craig Melton (2001), Erin Beyer (2014), Ashley Fontenot (2015), and Kimberlee Davis (2018).
This year the state of Texas submitted 229 candidate names to the National FFA Association for the degree. These members will be recognized in a virtual degree ceremony on Thursday, October 29. Bailey is the daughter of Shane and Joan Hubbard of Brookshire and is an Agricultural Business major at Texas A&M University. Jenny is the daughter of Joey and Debbie Pierce of Pattison and is a Biomedical Science – Pre Vet major at Texas A&M University. Their families, advisors, and fellow FFA members are extremely proud of this great accomplishment.
