Good evening, Falcons!
Today is our final “Daily Bond Fact at Five”, and there are only two hours left to vote in the 2020 election.
As you know, 2020 has been an unprecedented year in many ways. Regardless of your choices in each race, the best way to achieve positive change at the local, state, and national levels is to share your voice through voting.
For the last bond fact post, we wanted to share with you some data from early voting, which ended on Friday, October 30. Royal ISD extends a huge thank you to all those who showed up to vote this year. As of 7pm last Friday, 47.5% of RISD registered voters shared their voices during Early Voting. This exceeds the 2016 and 2018 voter turnouts. Waller County experienced record early voting turnouts, with 51% of registered voters turning up to share their voices!
The following are comparisons between this year’s election and those of prior years.
- 18% of the voters had no prior voting history, and half of those registered this year.
- 85% of the people who voted in the November 2019 RISD bond election cast their votes during 2020 early voting.
- 74% of the turnout in this year’s election DID NOT vote in the 2019 bond election.
- 83% of the 2017 tax ratification election (TRE) voters have voted.
- The Precinct 415 polling location continues to have the highest voter turnout (56%). Precinct 416 had the second highest turnout (44%).
- Royal ISD employee voter turnout is much higher than that of the 2019 election. Please note that this only includes employees who live within Royal ISD.
