On January 20, 2021, Royal ISD Superintendent Rick Kershner and his team joined the staff at Royal High School to launch the first event in the new βLand Developer and Realtor Professional Lunch & Learn Seriesβ. The program is designed to showcase all of the great things happening in Royal ISD. Growth is coming to Royal, and this series will help the Falcon family continue to serve current Falcons and embrace new ones as they move into the area.
Attendees of the inaugural event included professionals from Archway Properties, CastleRock Communities, Forestar, Gallagher Construction Management, Land Tejas, Lennar Homes LGI Homes, Meritage Homes, Signorelli Company, Stantec, Susan Menke Land Broker, Tricia Turner Properties, and more. The group was also joined by RISD Board of Trustees Elton Foster and Nathaniel Richardson.
The spotlight of the event was a series of presentations by current and former Falcon students, who spoke about how Royal provides students with a well-rounded education and the foundation they need for success. Student and former student presenters were: graduate Lanme Sierra (Animal Science), Cody Garcia (Arts and Audio-Visual), graduate and business owner Laimy Garza (Cosmetology), Trinity Bluford (Early College High School), Katia Mendoza (Engineering/PLTW), Jenna Johnson (Engineering/PLTW), Tracy Garcia (Health Science), graduate and business owner Perla Aguilar (Horticulture), graduate Eddy Wilson (Machining), and graduate Selena Castillo (Welding). The groupβs accomplishments are many, and include an appearance on HBOMax series Full Bloom, the first female welding student to win the Texas SkillsUSA welding competition, and the opening of successful local businesses.
RISD Superintendent Rick Kershner spoke about why Royal is a great place to learn, live, and work. Melissa Baker (Director of Advanced Academics and Early College High School) introduced the Early College High School program, and Ronnie Melton (Career & Technical Education Director) spoke to the wealth of opportunities provided through the Royal CTE program.
Project Manager Samar OβBryant spoke up about master planned community Sunterra, under development by Land Tejas. The expansive development will include hundreds of homes in Royal ISD and Katy ISD.
Kennon Masters, LGI VP of Acquisitions for Houston, Austin, and San Antonio, discussed three LGI developments within Royal ISD, which will include a total of 982 homes upon completion. Crystal Lakes includes 215 lots and Windsor Estates includes 28 townhome lots. Freeman Ranch is the largest LGI development in RISD, with a total of 812 homes and five sections. Section 1 is closed out, Section 2 has 7 remaining homes, and Section 3 has 137 remaining homes. Section 4 contains 199 lots and will be complete in August 2021. Section 5 will contain 176 lots.
Because seeing is believing, tours were provided by current students and employees to showcase Royal facilities and programs.
Royal Health Science students provided temperature screenings as guests arrived, and Marine JROTC program escorted guests to the event. Royal yearbook staff photographed the event. Centerpieces were created by Royal floral design students.
RISD thanks everyone who made this event possible and looks forward to providing future sessions to continue spreading the word about Royal.
