IMPORTANT UPDATE: Royal ISD COVID-19 Safety Measures

Greetings, Falcon family!

The β€œStrong, Stay Strong” plan was introduced prior to the 2020-2021 school year. The plan was developed in accordance with CDC and TEA guidelines and is intended to ensure a safe learning environment for all of our students and staff. The entire Royal community has done a phenomenal job practicing the guidelines outlined in Start Strong, Stay Strong, resulting in a very low rate of COVID cases across all Royal campuses. We thank you for your diligence and commitment to keeping our students, staff, and community safe.

As you know, Texas Governor Greg Abbott recently rescinded the mask and business capacity mandates that he put into place earlier in the pandemic. At the March 8. 2021 school board meeting, Superintendent Rick Kershner recommended leaving all mask, social distancing, and other safety guidelines in place with no changes. The RISD Board of Trustees agreed to follow Mr. Kershner’s recommendation (5 voted in favor, 1 was not in attendance, and 1 abstained).

Royal ISD will continue to require that masks be worn at all times by students and employees, will continue to follow social distancing guidelines, and will continue to adhere to the Start Strong, Stay Strong plan.

Thank you in advance for continuing to adhere to the school district safety procedures.

Your partner in learning,

Rick Kershner
Royal ISD Superintendent
