4A UIL Academics State Meet Results

The 2021-2022 District Champion UIL Academics Team, and in particular senior Alondra Melendez, made history at the 2022 UIL State Academics Meet.

As the students heard over and over from the State Directors of the competitions on Friday May 6th, being a qualifier and/or an alternate for State UIL is impressive. So, to begin, special recognition to the following: Alternate in Accounting senior Alexis Ibarra, alternate in Calculator Applications senior Samantha Lopez, alternate in Mathematics senior Zoe Buller, qualifier in Ready Writing senior Alondra Melendez, alternate in Copy Editing senior Angel Velasquez, alternate in Copy Editing senior Alexis Ibarra, and qualifier in Copy Editing senior Alondra Melendez.

Senior Alondra Melendez placed 4th in Copy Editing for 4A schools in the whole state of Texas. This was one place higher than last year when she competed at State. There to cheer her on were alternates for Copy Editing Alexis and Angel. Also there, and an alternate in mathematics, state qualifier from last year in Calculator Applications, Zoe Buller.

Alondra finished her day competing in Ready Writing. By the end of the night she was making history for Royal High School. She became our first State Champion in over twenty years. She is your 4A Ready Writing State Champion. Her essay and photo will be forever featured in the state archives in Austin and published on the UIL website.

When you see a UIL Academics Team Member please congratulate them on an outstanding year!

Thank you for all of your support this year.
